Burton V Blake!

Push your portrait-drawing skills to next level FIERCE at the second of our Sketchy B*tches specials at The Cartoon Museum!

To mark the start of Inktober, this time around we’re drawing on inspiration from two of our favourite ink-loving illustrators: Tim Burton and Sir Quentin Blake.

We’ll begin with a few warm-up challenges to get us into the groove of drawing in the style of the aforementioned LEGENDS, and look at some reference materials too, in case anyone is unfamiliar.

We’ll then each take a turn to pose for the rest of the group to draw mini portraits of us, which we’ll get to take home at the end of the night. When it comes to your turn to sit, you’ll get to decide whether you’d like to be a Burton-style Corpse B*tch, or a Blake-style Sketchy Witch!!

These will be short sharp poses and we’ll be playing with a variety of materials - Inktense pencils, calligraphy pens, charcoal, coloured pencils, markers and more! Feel free to BYO if you prefer.

Beginner or pro, exploring and drawing in the style of other artists is a great way to develop your own style and skills - or mix things up a bit if you fancy a break from the norm! So come get your Sketchy Witch on, B*tch!!!

Tickets £10 in advance - £15 on the door

Tickets include all materials and a bottle of AWARD-WINNING Square Root Soda!
BYO food/picnic tea :)

NB: The session will start at 6.30pm prompt so please ensure you arrive on time! You’re welcome to come earlier and check out the exhibition too - any time from 5pm.

About The Cartoon Museum

The Cartoon Museum champions cartoon and comic art, highlighting its value to culture and society. Following a move from Little Russell Street, it re-opened in its SWANKY AF new home back in July, and it’s bloomin’ beautiful!! The new purpose-built space is such a colourful and characterful setting to get creative in, and we’re truly thrilled to be running Sketchy B*tches sessions there!

It’s super-powered by a tiny but terrific team of staff and volunteers, with whom we are delight to be collaborating and co-hosting our events. Oh and the shop is amazing too :)

NB: The Cartoon Museum is fully wheelchair accessible.

Head to their website to find out more about the latest exhibitions!
