Subject to availability, Social Sketchups are hosted by Sketch Appeal Founder Dulcie, who will introduce the session with a brief talk about the power of everyday creativity and drawing her way back to mental health. Then, after a quick ‘drawing disco’ to warm-up, the portrait sketching will commence!

 

Working in pairs and then in small groups, everyone will have the opportunity to draw and be drawn, and we provide lots of fun prompts to make it easy - no matter what your level of skill or confidence.  We’ll get you drawing with your left hand, with your right hand, without looking down, in an abstract style and more! 

We provide ALL the coloured pens and encouragement you could ever need, but we don’t teach techniques or talk through the proportions of the face. This is because we want you to enjoy the mindfulness of drawing, free from technicalities, rules and objectives. This is about process over product - for once, results don’t matter!

The aim of a Social Sketchup is to:

  • Demonstrate and activate the wellbeing benefits of drawing and creative play

  • Give participants a boost of creativity, laughter and endorphins

  • Build connections and togetherness accross your staff team

  • Ease stress and tension through active meditation and music

  • Inspire people with ideas and exercises they can use at home to bring more creative joy into their lives

  • Standard Sketchups last 60-90 minutes

  • Fully flexible - can be themed and activities curated to suit your needs

  • Great for INSET days, wellbeing weeks and after-work socials

  • Suitable for mixed/all abilities - no artistic experience or skill required

  • Can be run for small groups or entire staff team
